Hip dysplasia, oh hip dysplasia, wherefore are thou ?

I have been involved in dogs since I was just a kid. That's 50 years now. Hip dysplasia is a subject that has many studies done stating food, environment, the sky, that tree over there influence how it is expressed in dogs. I don't see that. It's genetic. As an added bonus, it's said to be poly genetic, which means that it comes from multiple places in a DNA strand if I remember correctly. What I can tell you is that every study telling you that stairs, or unfiltered air is causing HD is complete bs. Prove that the dogs in your study would never have HD to begin with. Can't, and that is why all those studies are just wasted money. Money that could be spent trying to figure out more important things. I just got the news that one of my R litter pups has one hip that is bad. If you hear a hollow wooden knocking sound, that is me banging my head on the tree the internet blamed HD on. HAHAHAHAHAHA. Someday, someone will figure out the genetic markers, but wait, hear me out, will that destroy the gene pool ? Yes, welcome to random thoughts of a breeder.
